The Ionian Islands of Greece remain unspoilt, picturesque, quiet, accessible and ours to enjoy!

The welcome we receive from locals is warm and the atmosphere totally unique. Where else in the world can you drift into a village harbour, tie up and walk a few paces to a taverna table? Our yacht is designed to be operated easily and we are in an area that has no tides, very stable weather, and lots of beautiful bays and harbours so this event is perfect for beginners, those people who have some sailing experience and want to improve their skills or singles and solos looking to simple enjoy the sun and the company of other singles and solos.

The Ionian is an area of beautiful islands and anchorages; Itineraries vary weekly, but we will probably be visiting favourite spots such as Sivota, Kefalonia, Kastos, Kalamos, etc.

Our Greek sailing holidays are inclusive of flights (all flights and our yacht are booked through sailingholidays.com who are Atol bonded No; 2580), local transfers and our yacht for one week, lunch onboard is included but guests will pay for their own meals each evening in the tavernas and any breakfasts enjoyed ashore, although Greek prices are affordable. We will be part of a flotilla, which typically consists of between nine and twelve yachts. This means that each flotilla group usually consists of around 30 to 40 people of all experience levels and ages. The flotilla is supported by a fully crewed lead yacht offering experience, back-up, local knowledge, informative briefings and assistance where required. Most evenings you will be moored in a village or marina so there is plenty of time to explore on shore. Our host will pre-book a different restaurant each evening in a differnt port or harbour and we will all eat together as a large group. We meet for break fast each morning and decide on our next  port of call, then simply enjoy the day sailing, sunbathing, exploring coves and bays, meeting the rest of the yachts in the late afternoon. Our skipper is experienced and relaxed, but everyone will be encouraged to join in and help out even if they have never sailed before - dont worry – you’ll soon be as much in love with the sea as we are!

There are no significant tides, swell or compass variation to worry about in the area. You are never more than 10 miles from land and the good visibility means it is very much eyeball navigation so no need for a GPS!

How much experience do I need?

None is the answer, as we will provide a skipper and teach you to sail if you wish. Of course everyone can help by taking the helm, dropping or raising the anchor, docking, preparing breakfast or lunch, etc, or if you are an experienced sailor, we are happy for you to take control. We will sail between three to six hours each day, although if we wish we could stick on the motor and make our next port within a couple of hours if necessary. There’s plenty of time to explore the islands, swim, snorkel or simply relax and sunbathe. The lead boat usually has a windsurfer and a kayak we can use if we want to.

What do I need to Bring?

The yachts are equipped with all of the necessary navigation, safety equipment, cutlery, crockery and include bed linen and towels. All you need to bring are your own clothes and perhaps one “beach/swimming” towel. Remember you will be mostly sailing in a bathing suit or T-shirt so bring suncream and a hat.
